How Often Do You Need Your Chimney Inspection Service

Every working fireplace, including gas, wood, pellet stoves, oil stoves, and cook stoves, should have an annual chimney inspection. It’s likely that your system has been damaged if it’s been a while since your last chimney cleaning and inspection.

The buildup of soot in the chimney or flue can combust, generating intense temperatures inside the flue that can damage brick, masonry, and metal, posing a danger to your family and home. Even if you don’t use your fireplace often, an annual examination is necessary to ensure that it is free of animal nests and does not require repairs.

So make sure to call Total Chimney Sweeps to get your chimney inspected for proper operation.

In Our Chimney Inspection Service

We provide three levels of chimney inspection service

Level 1

This is a strictly visual inspection of the chimney and appliance's internal and exterior portions that are easily accessible. Our professional inspect the chimney system to ensure that the ventilation stream is clear of obstacles, that there are no dangerous creosote deposits, and that important clearances to combustible surfaces (such as wood or drywall surrounds) are maintained.

Level 2

Certification is also required if you've had a chimney fire or if you've had significant weather occurrences that may have harmed your chimney. In addition to the things covered in the Level 1 inspection, our sweep may look into the attic or crawlspace to check the venting path of your appliance and look for any problems.

Level 3

When a hidden hazard is suspected as a consequence of a Level 2 or 2 inspection, or severe structural damage is seen, Level 3 is strongly suggested. This is the most thorough and invasive inspection process and may involve removing masonry, drywall or other covering materials to access chimney structural components.
